E-Tsinda

Problem

In Gahanga Sector, community saving groups (Itsinda / Ibimina), mostly used by women, teen mothers, and low-income people, still rely on paper notebooks to manage savings and loans. This causes errors, disputes, lost records, and weak trust, while new government regulations require digital records and reporting. Most groups lack simple, accessible tools to comply, putting their savings and legal status at risk.

MVP

Scope

A digital management platform designed to modernize and secure Rwanda’s traditional community savings groups, commonly known as Itsinda or Ibimina.

Cardano Integration

Cardano is integrated as the trust and verification layer of our SaaS platform.

In our prototype, daily saving group operations (contributions, loans, repayments) are captured through USSD, mobile app, and web interfaces. Key transaction records are then written to the Cardano blockchain as immutable proofs. This ensures that once a transaction is recorded, it cannot be altered or deleted.

We use Cardano smart contracts to encode basic group rules—such as loan terms, interest calculation, and repayment tracking—so these rules are executed automatically and consistently. This reduces human error, prevents manipulation, and strengthens internal trust.

By anchoring records on Cardano, our system enables transparent auditing. Saving group members can verify their financial history, and government institutions can audit group activity using tamper-proof data without interfering in daily operations.

In short, Cardano provides immutability, transparency, and automated governance, turning our platform from a simple digital record system into a reliable and auditable financial infrastructure for community saving groups.
